16 Squadron
(Rotary Attack)
Currently this squadron is not active. 16 Squadron will be made active again once they receive The Rooivalk. The Rooivalk is currently in the very early planing stage. TFDC will keep all informed. So please keep an eye on TFDC news on the home page.

Base: Bloemspruit Air Force Base
Aircraft: Denel Rooivalk (In Development)
Purpose: Air defense and ground attack, maintaining rotary air superiority and supplying ground cover
Qualifications required for this squadron: Completion of 87th Helicopter flying school course, and 40 hours Puma and Augusta A109 hours. Discretionary decision can be made by Air Command to be placed in this Squadron if required.
15 Squadron
(Rotary)

Base: Durban Air Force Base
Aircraft: Puma
Purpose: Support, transport to ground troops, Special Forces transport and assistance to national fire departments when large fires occurs.
Qualifications required for this squadron: Completion of 87th Helicopter flying school course.
19 Squadron
(Rotary)

Base: Hoedspruit Air Force Base
Aircraft: Puma
Purpose: Support, transport to ground troops, assistance to national fire departments when large fires occurs.
Qualifications required for this squadron: Completion of 87th Helicopter flying school course.
17 Squadron
(VIP Rotary Transport)

Base: Waterkloof Air Force Base
Aircraft: Puma
Augusta A109 LUH
Purpose: Transport of VIP within surrounding areas. Also capable of support to troops, and also reconnaissance capability.
Qualifications required for this squadron: Completion of 87th Helicopter flying school course.
22 Squadron
(Rotary Air Superiority)

Base: Ysterplaat Air Force Base
Aircraft: Puma
Super Lynx
Purpose: Maintain Air Superiority and supply support to ground and sea vessels.
Qualifications required for this squadron: Completion of 87th Helicopter flying school course as well as 88 Maritime Operational Training School Course. Discretionary decision can also be made by Air Command for any pilot to be placed in this squadron.
